Dr. Danita Johnson Hughes

Dr. Danita Johnson Hughes wears many hats. Among them are healthcare industry executive, author, speaker, columnist, and television commentator. Through her professional work, keynotes, writing and philanthropic activities, she inspires people to dream big and understand the role personal responsibility plays in achieving success. As President and Chief Executive Officer of a leading healthcare services organization her ultimate goal is to help make a measurable difference in community health and well-being. She specializes in organization turnaround and has had much success in giving new life to troubled organizations.
Dr. Hughes is the recipient of numerous awards including the state of Indiana Governor’s Distinguished Hoosier Award. She is a 2013 inductee into the Northwest Indiana Business & Industry Hall of Fame. Graduating from Indiana University Northwest, she holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Public Administration. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Social Service Administration and a Graduate Certificate in Health Administration and Policy from the University of Chicago. Additionally, she earned her PhD from Walden University. She is a Certified John Maxwell Team Member and a Certified Human Behavior Consultant.
She is an avid runner and fitness enthusiast. She has completed six marathons. Dr. Hughes is also an award-winning porcelain doll artist and collector. Her collection consists of more than 300 dolls. She enjoys gardening as well.
Danita is married to Chuck Hughes, and together they have three children, several grandchildren and three dogs.
